Why Copenhagen When You Can Aarhus?

Why Copenhagen When You Can Aarhus?

AARHUS - the second largest city in Denmark, living in the shadows of the infamous Copenhagen. But locals probably prefer it that way - it’s a hidden gem, where tourists are to a minimum, small town feels meet big city soul, and the sea is just around the corner.

So, if your next adventure is calling your name, here are a few reasons why Aarhus should be on your travel bucket list:

If you're a first time traveler, starting your journey off in Denmark will ease you into unfamiliar cultures. Denmark has a poverty and crime rate well below average giving a sense of safety throughout. Not to mention, most Danes speak English as a second language making tasks like ordering food, shopping, and navigating transportation a breeze.

I found the architecture in Aarhus to be absolutely breathtaking. Your inner photographer will have a field day with the colorful buildings, stone work, and those perfect overcast days.

Although Aarhus is smaller than Copenhagen, it still lives up to its big city dreams with modern art museumsworld class cuisine, and a young spirited nightlife thanks to the university students.

Aarhus is compact enough to walk or bike anywhere with the option of turning your city adventure into some quality time with Mother Nature. The only thing you won’t get in Aarhus is the chaos of a large city.

And if you’re still not ready to hop on a plane... These photos should do the trick. ;)
